Zero Rivalry

Lightbulbs around the sun.
My eyes; raised up.
Heart; lifted and open.

Your face darkens
and I see the shadows
of fear and worry.

You forget
that you are the sun.
And all the lightbulbs can die.

  1. Hmm. I love it! I love the double contrast of how the lightbulbs can die (through melting by the sun’s temperature, and the fact that the bulb’s light is as good as off compared to the sun’s).

The semi-colons in the 1st stanza make the lines heavy to read. Commas would do.

    Very nice, metaphor. Good work.
